Sweet Pea's KitchenNola
I'm Nola...I like to be in the kitchen. I like simple and complicated recipes alike...I love Bacon and cheese and grew up on country cooking. I got a fella I call Stilsk and a dog we call her Amos Lee, a sister, a brother and a Mason (my sweet nephew)...here's a little about the adventures in my kitchen and my life...Enjoy!

It's already March!
I'm so famished right now all I can think of is Food...foOD...FOoD! I'm looking forward to the weekend, my sister said she was going to come visit, so that means...we can cook new and delicious stuff because we like to experiment...sometimes I need inspiration, and it comes in the form of my sister! I haven't written a post at all this year, so here we are in March and this Sunday is already time to spring the clocks forward! Time sure does fly...hehe.

Baby it's cold outside....
It's not officially winter...but it is December and it's cold! I know I'm in central California and there are plenty of colder places....but I choose not to live in those places...brr! The cold weather got me thinking...what do others wear to work in those "colder" places? How do they even look somewhat fashionable and stay warm? I'm upset with footwear lately...I don't want to wear Uggs ...because every teenage girl AND her mother has a pair...and my eyes are tired of looking at them! It led me to an idea that maybe I should dabble a bit and see what I can design as far as clothing and shoes are concerned...I have no idea where to start...how do you even begin to make a shoe? I can barely draw a tree...good luck to me!

Pumpkin Carving
This evening Stilsk and I were invited over to our friends house for a pumpkin carving gathering...sounds fun...there will surely be lots of seeds to roast up afterward for a tasty treat! I'm going to bake up some garlic parmesan artichoke dip...it's always a hit! Happy Carving!

It's finally Fall!
It's unseasonable cool...well that's what the weather man told me today...but I think it feels just fabulous. There are light breezes and some clouds and sun in the sky...perfect beginning of the cooler weather! I can't wait to make soups...I know you can have soup any time of the year but Fall just feels so cozy when you have yummy soul warming soups to enjoy! I'm going to attempt a what is being called "Cheese Soup in Little Pumpkin Shells." Its served in a cute little pumpkin shell as a bowl and topped with croutons. It hardly has any pumpkin in it but does include white wine and gruyere cheese so I'm excited! The only thing is...I'm going to have to go to a couple of grocery store to actually look for the proper cooking pumpkins the recipe calls for...I live in the Agricultural capital of the world and sometimes even not common produce is hard to find in the local stores. Oh....how I long for a Whole Foods or even Trader Joes! Now on to some more pressing matters...I've scoured recipe sites for kid recipes...but they are SOOOOOOOO boring, chicken fingers and mini pizza recipes...how many different ways people Really?! I'm needing some simple but not ordinary kid approved recipes...I'm going to check other blogger sites...here I go!

Friday....holler!
Oh Friday...how I've waited for you all week! Friday's bring a sense of calm to my world...the possibilities of the weekend...kinda sorta sleeping in...well at least past 5:30 a.m. I'm super excited about a recipe I have coming to me from a former co-worker. It's a butternut squash soup made with white wine and gruyere cheese...And it's served in a pumpkin, so cute and tasty! I can't wait to share with everyone!

It's Wednesday, don't feel like cooking so it's either sandwiches or going out to grab a bite to eat....I think I prefer the latter. Where shall we go? Amos had leftover Thanksgiving chicken in a pan (a chicken concoction with cream of chicken soup and stove top stuffing on top..delish) from Sunday...too soggy for us but she enjoyed! Off to dinner.....
Stilsk and I ended up going to Port of Subs and splitting a Turkey Bacon and Avocado sandwich with provolone and smoky cheddar...it was heavenly!
